It's my favourite time of the year spooky season and where best to start it than at Alton Towers Scarefest! Line up for this years Scarefest: The Attic: Terror of the Towers, Altonville Mine Tours, Darkest Depths, and new for 2022 The invitation a audio lead experience.
The Invitation 1827 (NEW FOR 2022)
The Invitation 1827 a audio lead experience. Is what is says on the tin an audio lead experience, the only way I can describe the experience is by ASMR with some jumpy parts. You could replicate the experience by blacking out a room at night and playing some creepy ASMR music. Other than that there limited actor interaction only time your see and hear an actor is at the start of the maze. The whole experience is a 5/10 looks good on paper but poorly executed if merlin go head with this next year let's hope there an improvement but I would rather had that as a scare maze that would of been better. Defiantly a 12+ attraction.
The Attic: Terror of the Towers:
First scare maze for me in 2022 and to be honest the first proper scare maze I have ever done other than Journey to hell freak nights at Blackpool Pleasure Beach with a inconstant storyline and moidore acting where they scream at you in your ear and little to no theme. The Attic is totally different a good storyline even though our batch broke the rule of waiting for someone to come to the door after knocking as it opened up on it own oops. Amazing set design throughout the maze and brilliant acting from start to finish actors being affective with the scares, even the actors that I thought will not get me due to witnessing them scare people in front got me and actors blocking my path out.
All round 10/10 for set design 10/10 for acting. A very good maze to start your Scarefest mazes on! The only thing I would say this maze may not be suitable for anyone under 12 as the scares can be intense at times.
Alton Ville Mine Tours:
second maze in 2022 could this be as good one as the attraction says the age recommendation is 15 years or older. Could Mine tours be better than The Attic with scares lets hope. well Mine tours does not lack in the set design section ever part of this maze is designed amazing however the scares where not as good as Attic. Could be that I was in the middle front but actors still have access to scare me if they time it right. set design 9/10 for theming some good set pieces in the maze spent more time looking at the set pieces than being scared 6/10 for acting. Some good acting at the start with the preshow that actor getting in my face and in the lift crawling and running in other than that acting was no where as good.
is it really a 15+ maze no I would say mine tours is a step up from Darkest depths. Still has good set pieces in the maze but acting is not as intense as The Attic if it runs like that through Scarefest then it would be a 12+ maze for sure!
Darkest depths:
The final maze on the line up and the most accessible maze in the line up of Scarefest without a doubt this maze had my favourite scare in any maze of the line up. This maze is a good maze for tame scares and families. 7/10 for theming and 4/10 for acting. This is a good starter maze.
The full attraction cost me £25.60 with MAP discount which included all four scare mazes was it worth it yes definitely worth it could anything been improved yes The
invitation 1827 could be a bit more actor and a tad shorter other than that the mazes where very good. Wanna experience Scarefest? well it's on from the 7th to the 9th and 14th to the 31!
